Overview

Course content and focus areas  This study program, which is taught in English, focuses on process structures of economic policy in the international integration of markets. The program prepares students for challenging careers in administration and politics, as well as in national and international organisations. In addition to applied econometrics and micro and macroeconomics, the programme provides in-depth knowledge of international economic policy and globalisation.
The focus is on economic, micro and macroeconomic topics with a strong international correlation (international relations in trade and development, monetary and fiscal policy).

The aim of the program is to provide students with analytical, economic and quantitative skills and knowledge for challenging careers in the field of economic analysis, e.g. as is required for leading positions in ministries, associations, international organisations and enterprises, but also in development co-operation. The program also prepares students for a career in the academic world. The program is taught at a high academic level and uses the latest methods and concepts. The teaching concept links intensive student monitoring with autonomous academic work and regular contact with economic practise.

Conditions of admission

Admission requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance or business administration or a similar subject providing proof of your analytical/ quantitative foundation
  • Letter of motivation in English Language (up to 750 words)
  • English language skills (level C1) proven by: 
    - TOEFL (at least 95 iBT ) or
    - IELTS Academic Test (band score of at least 7) or
    - UNIcert (at least level 3) or
    - Cambridge Certificate (General/ higher education; at least C1)
    If you have completed your undergraduate studies in a majority English speaking country (e.g. USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand) and if your Bachelor degree program’s sole language of instruction was English, you are exempted from submitting a language certificate.

Provisional admission If you have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), you can apply for the program if you have received at least 80% of the CP required for graduation (e.g. 144 CP in a normal 180 CP bachelor’s program). 
This provisional certificate must be issued by an office authorized to award grades or issue certificates. Provisional admission is valid until the end of the first semester of the master’s program. The bachelor’s degree must thus be handed in by March 31 (winter intake) or September 30 (summer intake) the latest.
Mode of admission Admission to the study program is restricted.
